St. George’s Archery Club usually runs a minimum of three Archery GB-approved beginners’ courses each year. Courses can be run outdoors at our Allerton Park ground or indoors at a local facility – usually St John Fishers High School, Harrogate.
Courses are relaxed and fun and comprise four weekly sessions coached by Archery GB-qualified coaches assisted by experienced archers. All shooting and safety equipment is provided. To successfully complete your course you will need to commit to attending all 4 sessions.
At the end of the course you will:
* be able to shoot a recurve bow using barebow and freestyle techniques;
* have a sound knowledge of basic technique, safety and etiquette to the level required to join a club
* receive a certificate of attendance which can be used to join any archery club in the UK
Course Costs and payment
Beginners’ courses cost £75 per person for adults and £50 for juniors. Full payment will be requested with your course application. Refunds for cancellations will be given provided you cancel not less than 30 days from the commencement of the 1st session.
Children (under 18) are welcome to participate in the club’s Courses from the age of 8 years. In accordance with Archery GB and club policies for the protection of children and vulnerable adults, all juniors must be accompanied throughout the course by a parent or a responsible adult. All our coaches are DBS checked.
Current Course Availability
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, we have had to suspend our normal courses, though we are currently looking at ways of safely running small courses for up to 5 people with 1 coach. We potentially will run these over 2 sessions, outdoors at Allerton Park
